Scroll is the playhead

The film below is a single continuous take, and your scroll position drives every frame of it. It runs forward as you scroll down, backward as you scroll up, and holds perfectly still when you stop. Nothing is autoplaying, nothing is looping, and there is no video player anywhere on this page.

Built to be scrubbed

Built from the core outward

Scroll the film. Every frame is driven by your scroll position, forward and backward, at whatever speed you move. Nothing here is a looping background video.

What this means for your site

Most small business websites are assembled from the same handful of templates, which is exactly why they blur together in a set of search results. A visitor decides in about a second whether a business looks like one that does careful work. Engineering is what buys that second, and almost nobody spends it.

Motion done properly is one of the few honest ways to hold attention: it has to stay smooth on a four year old phone, keep text readable while it moves, and disappear entirely for someone who has motion reduced in their settings. Get any of that wrong and it reads as cheap rather than considered.

We are not suggesting your site should do this. Most should not. It is here because you should be able to see the ceiling before you hire anyone, and because the discipline that holds sixty frames a second steady is the same discipline that keeps a quote form fast and a page legible on a phone in daylight.

Decoded, not stitched
One compressed video is seeked directly rather than loading thousands of numbered images, so the page stays light.
Two encodes
Phones get a smaller, shorter keyframe encode. Desktop gets the full resolution version.
Reduced motion respected
If your system asks for less motion, the story is still fully readable and no video is fetched at all.
Text stays text
Every word here is real HTML over the film, so it can be selected, searched and read by a screen reader.

The same discipline, applied where nobody can see it

A film is judged by eye. A system is judged by whether it still behaves at 2am on a Sunday when nobody is watching. Below is the life of a single enquiry through Relay, our own lead response engine, with the real recorded timings from the account this studio runs on itself.

  1. 0msTimestamped

    Enquiry lands

Someone submits the form. The server writes the arrival time to the millisecond, on a clock neither the client nor we can set.

  2. 911msTimestamped

    They get an answer

A reply goes out in the business owner's own words, by text and email. This is the event the guarantee is measured to, and it is why the reply is sent inside the request rather than queued.

  3. +1s

    The owner is told

Name, number and message land on the owner's phone. Never counted toward the response metric, because the promise is about how fast the customer hears back, not the business.

  4. Day 3

    First follow up

Queued at the moment the lead arrived and drained by a scheduled job. Claimed with a conditional update, so two overlapping runs cannot message the same person twice.

  5. Any time

They reply, and the chase stops

An inbound text cancels every pending follow up for that lead and forwards the message to the owner. Nothing is more damaging than a system that keeps chasing someone who already answered.

  6. Day 10

Second follow up, only if still silent

The last automated touch. After this the lead is left alone unless the owner picks it up by hand.

  7. On close

The outcome goes back to the ad

Won or lost, with job value, exported to Google Ads as a conversion. Spend then optimises against booked work rather than clicks.

The two timestamped events are the entire product. Everything between them is plumbing that exists so the pair can be trusted: retries that cannot double message, a leaked key that cannot run up a phone bill, and an append only log so a disputed month is settled with records rather than recollection.
